RIASEC = Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. Twenty questions, four minutes, one 3-letter code that maps you to careers.
Most people are a blend — your code captures your rank order, e.g. SAE (Social first) vs. ESA (Enterprising first) point to very different workdays.
Each area scores 3–15 from your answers. There's no pass/fail — the pattern is the point. A big gap between your top two and bottom two areas = a clear direction. Flat scores = broad interests (we'll tell you honestly instead of faking precision).
Adjacent letters on the Holland hexagon (like R–I or S–E) tend to co-occur; opposite letters (like A–C) rarely do. If your code mixes opposites, that's interesting data, not an error.
Because it's the most validated interest framework in existence — 60+ years of research, and the backbone of the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET Interest Profiler. Personality quizzes are fun; RIASEC is infrastructure.
Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional — John Holland's six interest areas.
It reliably measures interests, which predict career satisfaction well. It's a compass for exploration, not a job assignment.
